Tidal Lines – Illawarra Plum Infused Gin

Tidal Lines begins as our delicious classic gin recipe and is then infused with native Illawarra Plums in French oak ex-wine casks. The gin and Illawarra Plum fruit are both placed directly into the casks and left to marry into this unique spirit.

Featuring flavours of Illawarra Plum, fresh juniper, rainforest lime, cinnamon, Angelica root and more, this gin was named as the best Australian sloe gin at the 2023 World Gin Awards. A native twist on the traditional sloe gin, this unique gin has an incredibly unique taste and is remarkably versatile. Whether you drink it on the rocks, with soda and a squeeze of lime or use it in a cocktail such as a sloe gin sour, Tidal Lines is a drink that will quickly become your favourite.

What are Illawarra Plums? Illawarra Plums are an extremely rare Australian native bush tucker fruit that are packed full of antioxidants. About 20mm in diameter and with an external seed, they are not commercially farmed and are not true plums as we know them.

In the UK, distillers make a product called "sloe gin" which begins as regular gin but is then steeped in sloe berries - a small black/blue fruit that is native to Europe, Western Asia or North Africa. A sloe berry looks similar to an Illawarra Plum, but has some very important differences. Sloe berries do not have an external seed, are a completely different species of plant and have a remarkably different taste.

Tidal Lines is an Australian native version of the UK's sloe gin, with Illawarra Plums used in place of the sloe berries. Australia also has other types of native "plum" that you may have heard of such as Davidson Plum and Kakadu Plum, but these are importantly also different to the Illawarra Plum.

Packaged in the Headlands signature gin bottle, Tidal Lines can be sipped neat, with ice, made into a sloe gin sour, a gin and tonic (or soda), or used as a substitute for sloe gin in any cocktail.

What is the difference between Spirit of the Illawarra Plum, Illawarra Plum Liqueur, Daalgaal and Tidal Lines?

Spirit of the Illawarra Plum is not a gin and only contains Illawarra Plums. It is completely dry.

Illawarra Plum Liqueur is not a gin, contains Illawarra Plums and is sweet like a port or sherry.

Daalgaal Gin is a completely Australian native gin featuring Australian native juniper (Boobialla), Illawarra Plums and native stingless bee honey.

Tidal Lines is gin featuring classic juniper and a host of other delicious botanicals, infused with Illawarra Plum fruit
